Our Founder

Sarah Villafranco, MD

Dr. Sarah Villafranco is the CEO and Founder of Osmia. After graduating from Georgetown University Medical School, she completed a four-year residency in Emergency Medicine at George Washington University and practiced as a board-certified emergency physician in Colorado. After a decade in the field, she became increasingly aware of the medical system’s tendency to treat symptoms rather than root causes. After losing her mother to pancreatic cancer, she felt called to pursue a more holistic path—one that aligned with her values as both a physician and a mother of two daughters.

While she never imagined working in the beauty industry, a local soap-making class opened her eyes to the chemistry and artistry of natural skincare. Alarmed by the huge number of potentially harmful ingredients in mainstream products, she spent years researching safer, more effective alternatives. In 2012, she launched Osmia Skincare with a mission to help people find healthier, happier skin using superior ingredients, while honoring both human and environmental health. By combining her medical training with a passion for transparency and plant-based formulation, she’s helped thousands of people transform their skin—and their relationship with it.
