Keratosis Pilaris Skincare

Bumpy skin, sometimes called "chicken skin," on your body can be caused by a buildup of keratin and dead skin cells within the hair follicles, causing inflammation, irritation, and a bumpy texture. These natural products can be used on bumpy skin and are safe for use with keratosis pilaris.

Why Do I Have Chicken Skin?

It could be genetic, it could be chronic inflammation, it could be a curly hair shaft, or it could be a mix of all three. The medical term for the bumps on the backs of your arms and fronts of your thighs is keratosis pilaris, and it's incredibly common; more than 40% of the population experiences KP at some point.

The most important thing you can do for keratosis pilaris is to keep calm and not over-exfoliate! It's so tempting to think you can scrub away your bumpy skin, but if you're doing it on the daily, you're probably making things worse.

Read Dr. Sarah's approach to keratosis pilaris here, and you'll be on your way to smoother skin in no time.
