Soothing Turmeric Ginger Latte (Golden Milk Recipe)

September 16, 2025 by Sarah Villafranco, MD

When you feel like life is happening at a pace you can't sustain, and you're about to boil over, pause and make yourself a cup of this soothing and grounding turmeric latte. Turmeric and ginger both have a long list of health benefits, but this recipe is every bit as delicious as it is good for you. Enjoy!

Turmeric Latte Ingredients

  • 1 knob of fresh grated ginger (frozen ginger grates more easily!)
  • 1 knob of fresh grated turmeric (use 1.5 teaspoons powder if you can't find fresh)
  • 2 cups of almond milk
  • 1/2 cup of filtered water
  • 5-7 turns of fresh ground black pepper
  • honey, maple syrup, allulose, or stevia to taste

How to Make a Turmeric Latte

  1. Rinse ginger and turmeric under cold water.
  2. Grate a thumb-sized piece of each into a saucepan.
  3. Add almond milk, water, and black pepper.
  4. Warm gently (don’t boil) for ~5 minutes until deep orange.
  5. Strain into your favorite mug.
  6. Add sweetener to taste.
  7. Optional: Froth milk or sprinkle cinnamon on top.

Ginger packs some heat, so go easy if you're not sure whether you like fresh ginger!

Note: Your hands may turn a beautiful hue of orange when working with raw turmeric root. Try using our Coffee Mint Soap to remove the stains gently.

Another note: don't forget the black pepper—the curcumin in black pepper unlocks the health benefits of turmeric. Curious how that works? Read this.

With love and a golden-milk-filled mug,

After losing her mother to pancreatic cancer, she took a local soap making class, and fell in love with the chemistry and artistry of making soap. Sarah went into research mode and was alarmed to learn how many potentially harmful ingredients were in most skincare products on the market. She knew she could make better, safer products that were as effective (if not more so) than conventional products.
